A great article that addresses many of the questions and concerns women have about lifting weights.  I encounter this all the time when doing tours for prospects.  Women think they will get big, bulky, and muscular.
A few key points on this... First, women do not have enough testosterone to get big muscles.  Second, most women are on reduced calorie diets, so weight training serves to help maintain muscle (which is what gets toned when you workout).  As you exercise, you will burn fat, but at some point your body switches and starts burning muscle for fuel.  Muscle eats fat, so you want to keep your muscle and you do that by lifting.
Next, people don't become bodybuilders by mistake.  It takes an intense lifestyle of 8,000 calories per day and extreme amounts of exercise over several years.  Saying you don't want to lift weights because you don't want to look like a bodybuilder is like saying you don't want to go swimming because you don't want to win a gold medal next week.
So get after it and get to lifting ladies.... you won't regret it!!!
